In recent years, many environmental problems such as large-scale haze and soil pollution have frequently occurred, which has made ecological and environmental protection the focus of the entire society. As a source of life, water plays an important role in the natural ecological environment.

In response to the problem of surface water resources in China, the previous national water special projects have been studied for five years, and groundwater has not been studied similarly. In the context of the country’s increasing emphasis on strengthening environmental protection, groundwater pollution monitoring instruments and meters will usher in tremendous opportunities for development. The

China began to develop groundwater resources on a large scale since the mid-1970s. By the beginning of the 20th century, the country’s groundwater exploitation volume had exceeded 100 billion m3. However, over-exploitation and groundwater pollution have led to a series of serious ecological and environmental problems. At present, the groundwater conditions in China are alarming. According to continuous monitoring data of 118 cities from 2 to 7 years, about 64% of the city's groundwater has been seriously polluted, 33% of urban groundwater has been slightly polluted, and only 3% of the basic clean city groundwater has been polluted.

In the face of this situation, the country has also introduced a number of pollution prevention and control policies. In 2011, the Ministry of Environmental Protection issued the "National Groundwater Pollution Prevention Plan (2011-2020)". The "Planning" proposes to accelerate the improvement of the groundwater environment monitoring network, achieve the sharing of groundwater environment monitoring information, and increase investment in groundwater environment monitoring instruments and meters. In addition, the Feasibility Study Report of the National Groundwater Monitoring Project, jointly filed by the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Land and Resources, proposes that 10,103 groundwater monitoring stations will be constructed, including 7,235 new monitoring stations and 2,868 monitoring stations.

The groundwater environment monitoring network consists of heavy metal analyzers, multi-parameter water quality analyzers and other instruments and meters. As of the end of 2013, there were approximately 16,570 groundwater monitoring sites nationwide, including 2,000 water level flow monitoring sites.

Recently, Henan Province has invested 45 million yuan and plans to build 387 new monitoring stations. Tibet will also build 60 new monitoring wells and use intelligent monitoring instruments to achieve real-time online monitoring. In the next few years, relevant departments will also continue to promote the national groundwater monitoring project, which will generate tens of thousands of groundwater monitoring equipment needs. It is easy to see that there will be a huge market for groundwater monitoring instruments and meters in the future.
